What if my client’s hair has a lot of oil/product build-up and is very dirty?

Step 1: P.O.D Mineral Cleansing Spray on dry hair (6–10 sprays per section across 4 sections, wait 5 minutes, then rinse thoroughly — this is the rinse-out variant since MCS is the detox core).

Step 2: Detox shampoo.

Step 3: P.O.D Shield (no rinse, instant).

What if my water pressure is low and my pod is taking longer than expected to dissolve?

Run through this in order.

(1) Adaptor installed correctly — quarter-twist seal on both ends, never forced.

(2) Water temperature — 37–40°C.

(3) Buildup on the PLATE or Adaptor basket — disassemble and clean.

(4) Pod moisture damage — check for yellow spots (Prep, Super Lift) or blue spots (Violet Prep). Discard if present.

(5) Water pressure — check for buildup elsewhere in the Showerhead. Safety-critical: if pressure builds unusually during use, turn the tap off immediately, clean the plate and Adaptor thoroughly, dispose of the pod, and restart.

Does this replace my current colour line?

We are not looking to replace any other colour line, there are fantastic companies doing amazing things with colour. This is in addition and complimentary to any current colour, semi, demi or refresh tones on previously toned hair. The P.O.D System is friends with all brands and is the perfect partner to blend and implement alongside the things you already use in the salon.

Does P.O.D come with any special aftercare instructions or recommended hair care products?

Apply 2–4 pumps from root to ends after Tone or any finishing P.O.D service. Comb through evenly. Leave on for a minimum of 5 minutes. Rinse thoroughly, gently squeeze out excess water, towel dry.

Is it damaging to my hair?

Absolutely not. P.O.D is designed to colour your hair and provide outstanding shine, strength and manageability. It is pH balanced and boosted with lipophilic oils and amino acids to treat the hair while toning. In addition, P.O.D is free from damaging chemicals such as Ammonia, MEA, DEA, PPD, PDT and requires no developer. It truly is colour delivered and activated by clean water.

Is P.O.D safe to use during pregnancy or for individuals with health conditions?

We have not specifically tested P.O.D products for use during pregnancy and other health conditions, however we anticipate no issues as it can be safely used on human hair and does not contain any of the chemicals recommended for pregnant women to avoid. We do, however, recommend doing a patch test in such cases to lower risk, if any.

How often will I need to refresh my pod colour?

We have not specifically tested P.O.D products for sensitive skin. However, we recommend checking the ingredients and doing a patch test before using on people with overly sensitive skin. Note the products are free from Ammonia, MEA, DEA, PPD, PDT and require no developer.

Can I swim or expose my hair to sunlight after P.O.D hair colour?

Like any hair colour product, we recommend avoiding moisture in the first 24hrs post your P.O.D treatment. P.O.D is designed to fade every time the hair is wet.

Is it possible to mix different shades of P.O.D tones to create custom colours?

Absolutely, you can personalise your colours. All pod tones are intermixable as long as one uses the knowledge of colour charts and the colour wheel theory. We recommend if you’re mixing two different pods together, put gloves on and squeeze the 2 shades together before using, or cut 2 shades in half to create 1 pod.

Can I use P.O.D colour on previously chemically treated or damaged hair?

Yes, it’s one of the safest colours available, but it’s important to consider hair porosity to prevent excessive tone absorption. This is why The Shield is the first step to balance porosity, especially before working on compromised or chemically treated hair. The P.O.D system also treats the hair during the colouring process.

Can I use P.O.D on chemically straightened or permed hair?

You can, P.O.D contains no ammonia or MEA therefore you will not create any damage to chemically treated hair. P.O.D is rich in lipophilic oils and amino acids that nurture and protect damaged hair.

Does P.O.D provide any options for customising colour intensity or vibrancy?

We have 6 vivids in our range, you can intermix vivids with other shades to create different intensities or vibrancy.

P.O.D can layer one colour to remove one or to enhance existing colour. When using traditional colours for root application, P.O.D can be layered on top to give the middle and ends a multi-colour effect.

The Prep has a mild peppermint fragrance andThe Sealer also has a very mild fragrance. P.O.D is intentionally designed with next to no fragrance, ensuring the formulations are mild and gentle.

Tone lasts up to 6 washes, depending on hair condition and porosity. Processing time is 3.5–5 minutes (longer hair / thicker hair sits at the upper end). It fades evenly and translucently — no permanent residue or buildup. The result is a direct reflection of existing level + chosen shade — always select tone based on the lightest level present in the hair.

How do I clean the system?

After mixing, wash the BODY and BLADE under flowing water — a tint brush helps for faster cleaning. Wash the BOWL under flowing water; pull out the blade if needed. Use a brush or spatula to wipe excess colour off the lid. Wipe the top of THE PING with a damp towel. The products should NOT be immersed in water — never submerge the motor housing or the USB port. Always switch off the power source and cover the charging port before cleaning.
